Last Week, New York City’s Geese returned to NYC for two sold-out hometown shows at Brooklyn Paramount in support of their highly acclaimed third LP– Getting Killed.

Besides their (very) recently added date at Camp Flog Gnaw, these two hometown shows were meant to be the final stop on their North American tour. Their last NYC show was their renowned and viral free show in the middle of the street at Banker’s Anchor, in Greenpoint– (check out our full review & photo gallery of that show here.) In what has been a very defining year and a breakout moment for the band– there's never too much Geese, so we were thrilled for more on November 20th.

Opening the show was Irish singer Dove Ellis—- he’s an artist on the rise with purely gorgeous tunes and a unique voice. Second act Racing Mount Pleasant provided some angsty indie tunes that were larger than life, complete with a horn section and strings.

Around 9:40, Geese took the stage, opening with the meditative thump of “Husbands”, and the twinkling charm of “Cobra”, which prompted the audience to assume their role as a backing choir for the rest of the evening. The band significantly backlit during the show, emphasizing their silhouettes. The set was littered with highlights, including the rowdy wig-outs of “2122” and the deafening sing-along of “Cowboy Nudes”.

The anthemic “Taxes” was recited so loudly by the crowd that it sounded like it was being sung back by a roaring stadium audience, and a unique 6/8 version of “Long Island City Here I Come” steadily built its tension into an incredible and explosive jam.

The encore, “Trinidad”, saw an intense and playful circle-pit moment from the audience that worked directly in tandem with expertly controlled chaos from the band.
